ARLINGTON THREE BATHROOM RENOVATION

“Every person in our home treated it and us with care and respect and worked with a sense of urgency that was very appreciated.” - Kathy Martin

The Martins sought a design+build firm who could renovate the bathrooms in the original part of their newly purchased home in Arlington with efficiency and artistry. The project involved the addition of one new bathroom, the gut and enlargement of a second bathroom and an almost complete replacement of a third.

“From the start, Jimmy Finn understood the direction we wanted to go with the renovation of our new home,” recalls Mrs. Martin. A design solution was worked up and agreed upon within two days of their first meeting. Selections for tile and other fixtures were ordered within the week, and the construction crew started the following week. The project moved with the speed necessary to be substantially completed before the Martins’ move.

The design solution for the bathrooms involved converting a small third bedroom into a new bathroom with private entrance and additional closet space for the Martin’s daughter. A portion of the small bedroom was used for the expansion of the hall bath to include a full-sized shower. The entrance to the hall bath was also moved to accommodate the inclusion of a shower.

From Pinterest searches and showroom visits, Mrs. Martin had a strong vision for each bathroom. Braswell Design+Build helped with the final finish selections. For their daughter’s bathroom, the Martins selected Calacutta Gold Arabesque water jet tile for the accent wall, Waterworks unlacquered brass fixtures, and a gold iridescent penny round tile for the floor and shower accent. The result is both feminine and ageless.

The hall bathroom was intended to look as it has always been there. In fact, the original 1937 design had yellow and black tile. The stately, renovated version boasts a custom designed black and white tile floor, a Carrara marble shower threshold and retro console sink.
